5 Places to Swim, Splash and Cool Off in South Baltimore

Need to cool off on a hot day in South Baltimore? Here's where to go!

Kids want to cool off, but not sure where to go in South Baltimore? Here is a list of splash pads and pools in the South Baltimore area to take kids on these hot summer days.

We advise always checking with the venue when possible before heading out as hours and availability can change due to any number of factors, ranging from weather to staffing issues.

Walter Sondheim Fountain (West Shore Park)

401 Light St, Baltimore MD 21202

What to expect: Interactive musical fountain with colored lights that illuminate the streams of water from the pop jets.  The fountain is located in the West Shore Park that has plenty of family events. Can be really be busy during weekends and late hours. Street parking and garage parking is available.  Restrooms are located in the Baltimore Visitor Center. This is an inclusive splash pad kids of any mobility can have fun! 

Dates and hours: Weekends 11am -10pm / Weekdays 10am - 10pm

The Cherry Hill Splash Park

101 Reedbird Ave. Baltimore MD,21225

What to expect: The Cherry Hill Splash Park provides a place for neighborhood children to splash around and beat the heat, without being totally submerged in water. The water squirts from fountains and is timed so that children can run under, splash about and enjoy themselves, while cooling off. There are water slides available as well as additional activities to relax and have fun in the sun. There is also an indoor pool available. Easy Street parking.

Dates and hours: *The Cherry Hill Splash Park will reopen mid-Summer 2022 with the brand new Middle Branch Fitness and Wellness Center. Residents may utilize the Riverside Park Pool and the Middle Branch Aquatic Center in the interim.

Riverside Pool (Splash City): 

1800 Covington Ave, Baltimore MD, 21230


What to expect: There is a big pool for the big kids and adults!  A wading pool which is really good for little people and for learning to swim. Plenty space to spread out and feel like a mini resort! Public Restrooms is availble on the park. There is plenty of nearby street parking.

Patterson Park Pool

What to expect:The Patterson Park Pool is a park pool. That includes a big pool for good swimmers and a wading pool for the not so strong and tiny swimmers.

FARRING-BAYBROOK POOL:

4501 Farring Ct, Baltimore, MD 21225

What to expect: The Farring-Baybrook Pool is a neighborhood pool. A few years ago the pool was given a paint job so it looks more up to date. The pool is big and surround by tree so there is a lot of shade.  My favorite thing to see there is the new murals place on the REC center.
