Summer Break Baltimore Kicks Off May 31 at Pratt Library
A Summer of Free Books, Fun Events, and Community Engagement
BALTIMORE – The Enoch Pratt Free Library is gearing up for another exciting summer of reading, learning, and community engagement with Summer Break Baltimore, launching May 31st at all Pratt Library locations. This beloved annual program is designed to help people build their home libraries, participate in engaging programs, and connect with library resources.
Those interested in participating can visit their nearest Pratt Library location to sign up for the program beginning May 31. Participants will receive a free Summer Break Baltimore t-shirt at registration and one free book each month in June, July, and August to build their home libraries, while supplies last. Additionally, those who attend programs throughout the summer at Pratt Library locations and log the books they’ve read, can enter raffles for exciting prizes including tech gadgets, summer toys, and more.
To kick off the summer, Pratt Library locations will host a city-wide celebration on May 31, where attendees can register for the program, receive their June book one day early, and enjoy activities ranging from ice cream socials and scavenger hunts to carnival games and visits with animal ambassadors.

Summer Break Baltimore ensures that everyone, from young readers to lifelong learners, has the chance to explore new stories, expand their knowledge, and connect with their community,” said Chad Helton, Pratt Library President & CEO. “We’re proud to bring another summer of reading and engagement to Baltimore.”
Last year, the program saw more than 24,000 participants who read more than 50,000 books. This year, the Pratt Library aims to welcomeeven more participants to its summer reading initiative. To further encourage excitement, the highly anticipated Baltimore-themed t-shirts—designed in-house by a Pratt Library team member—will be revealed in May via social media.
