7 Ways to Keep Your Kids Entertained During the Football Game ๐Ÿˆ

January 27, 2024

Watching football on a Sunday is something many of us enjoy. This weekend's game is an even bigger deal to watch and we know the kids won't have much interest. So how can you enjoy watching the game while also keeping your kids busy? We have some ideas to try so you can up your parenting game this weekend.

1. Get them excited to cheer for a team. When they choose who they want to cheer for, have them make decorations to hang up and signs they can hold up during the game. Make your own sign too and make it fun for the whole family.

2. During the game, set up a spot where the kids can keep score. Each time someone scores have them write the points down. You can even add some math fun in there and ask them to add up the score as it happens.

3. Football themed craft table. Find some printables online or make up your own football themed crafts and have them set up for the kids to do throughout the game. Some ideas could be: draw a raven, design your own football team logo and team colors, or make up a cheer for your team.

4. If you have the space, create their own area to play or mimic their own game. They can pretend to be football players and cheerleaders and play their own game.

5. Snacks. We know it's all about the snacks. Consider putting together finger foods that they can munch on all during the game. Check out our article here for snack ideas: https://southbaltimore.macaronikid.com/articles/6207c47123fbdc46aa83dcf7/five-easy-football-day-snacks-to-make-with-kids

6. If you have another space available, set up a movie or their favorite show for them to watch.

7. If it's nice out and not raining, take them outside during halftime for a quick break to run around and get some of the energy out.

Some prep and a little planning ahead will hopefully allow you to get a little more time to watch the game. I'll be rooting for a home team win!
