The Color Run Plans to Make Its Mark in 2019
World’s largest event series returns to Camden Yards Sports Complex
Baltimore, MD. (October 5, 2019) –The Color Run is excited to announce that this September, the
“Happiest 5K on the Planet” will return to Baltimore for the eighth time. For nearly ten years, The Color
Run events have attracted record numbers of first-time runners. “It means a lot to our team when
someone tells us city they ran their first 5K at The Color Run,” said product manager Amanda Hewlett.
“We’re always striving to be as inclusive and positive as possible. We want our events to be a place
where everyone feels accepted and celebrated.”
Now, The Color Run wants to do even more to make sure its events leave a positive impact. On its 2019
Love Tour, The Color Run is encouraging people to show love for themselves, love for each other, and
love for the planet. This includes focusing on self-care and body positivity in event messaging, partnering
with local and national charities, and opting for reusable products and recycling opportunities at each
run. The Color Run has partnered with American Childhood Cancer Organization to provide life-saving
programs for children simultaneously battling cancer and malnutrition in Africa.
Ruth Hoffman, Chief Executive Officer of the American Childhood Cancer Organization and President of
Childhood Cancer International stated, “ACCO is so excited to be teaming up with The Color Run to raise
awareness for childhood cancer, the number one cause of death by disease for children in the United
States - and around the world. In low to middle income countries, children fighting cancer must also
fight malnutrition at the same time. With this partnership, these children will now have their best shot
at tolerating treatment and going on to live a long, healthy life.”
“The Love Tour definitely has a special feel to it,” said Issac Krieger, The Color Run Baltimore event
director. “Every Color Runner is going to leave the event feeling like they were just a part of something
extraordinary.”
With a colorful, 1970s inspired aesthetic, new photo ops, and redesigned merchandise, The Color Run
has a new look as well. The 2019 racecourse features two new “double color” zones, in addition to the
regular checkpoints, where runners are doused in color powder during their run. After the race, runners
can explore a reimagined Finish Festival, featuring a live DJ and massive color throws every few minutes.
